Disney Port Orleans River side Review including Royal Room

I love Riverside at Walt Disney World's Resorts!

It is a moderate resort and has pretty large grounds but really not as large as some of the other moderate resorts.

It can be pretty easy to navigate around it though!

This resort has not been going through the refurbishments as of yet as many of the other resorts have been but it will be for sure.--EDITED, refurbishment is now complete!

I am curious if the specialty themed rooms will be refurbished??
The Pirate themed rooms available at The Caribbean Beach Resort so far have not been touched.
See my review of that here: CLICK ME

This visit I did stay in the Royal Rooms! We absolutely LOVED them! As is the name, they are highly decorated with all sorts of Princess touches; floor, beds, sinks & decor!
You can also find firework lights made into the headboards!

Simply push a little button and you will see a wonderful firework display! Not quite as fantastic as Disneyland Resort rooms that play music with the light display but still pretty fabulous especially for your kiddos!

An advantage to staying in the Royal room is that it is really close to the Main building/Foodcourt and pool! These rooms are usually always found under a promotional rate which usually makes everyone happy!

The room offers 2 queen beds, spacious, has Mini fridge, double sink vanity, table with two chairs and an ottoman.

Other rooms (outside the Royal Rooms) offer the 2 queens, 2 queen and a murphy, king & a king with a murphy. Plenty of options!

Pool has a slide but it is on the small side. Not too fast or scary but fun enough for even an adult!
Daily activities are held by the pool as well. I hate that we missed the trivia announcement on our pool day. I so would have signed in. They held it right by the pool!

The resort is very calm and serene, really nailing down the Louisiana ambiance.

This resort sits on the canal connecting to Disney Springs, so take a Disney boat over to Disney springs for some shopping or nightlife!
This resort offers bike rentals, fishing, nightly movies and campfires for S'mores.

The bus offers Direct Park transportation via Bus. The busses run Counter clockwise through resort bus stops.

I also love the food court, it has lots of options with also basic foods for my picky eaters! More on that later.  Take the resort boat or walk over to the French Quarter food court and grab a Beignet! Here is a recipe for it as well.. Click HERE

I do highly recommend this resort! It is easier it seems to grab rooms under a promotional rate at other moderate resorts & on the Royal Rooms within resort but it is still very much worth staying at this resort. If you book when rooms are first released, it can be the best rate available sometimes. When rates raise for season or from price increases, sometimes the promotional rate is not always the best. The promotional rate can be good still, it always depends on room factors and promo offerings.

You can see from this resort grounds map, which building we were in. The elevators are in the middle of the buildings in case that is needed. We were on second floor which was perfect. Provided nice view! We had easy access to stairs down to front walkway over to main house/food court. I marked out path in picture.
